Dr. Roger Marshall, U.S. Senator from Kansas, used his social media platform in early October 2025 to address federal employment, healthcare for undocumented immigrants, and national debt concerns.
On October 3, 2025, Marshall commented on the nature of federal employment compared to the private sector. He stated: “Just like in the private sector — which currently has 8 million open jobs — no one is guaranteed a job for life. Federal employees, like anyone else, serve in positions that can change with time and need.
In 2010, there were 2.1 million federal jobs. By the time President Trump”.
The following day, October 4, he referenced a Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report regarding healthcare benefits for undocumented immigrants: “The CBO confirmed it: over 2 million illegal aliens were receiving free healthcare, funded by American taxpayers, because of waste, fraud, and abuse.
Republicans closed those fraud loopholes in the One Big, Beautiful Bill — now Democrats want to reverse it.”
On October 6, Marshall addressed government spending and election outcomes: “If Democrats want to add $2 trillion to the debt, then go win an election. But 77 million Americans said no to their reckless spending in November.”
Federal workforce levels have fluctuated over recent decades but have generally remained around two million civilian employees outside of military personnel. The Congressional Budget Office regularly publishes analyses on federal programs and expenditures related to immigration and public health coverage; however, estimates on healthcare access for undocumented immigrants often vary depending on eligibility criteria and program rules.
Debates over government spending and deficit increases are recurring issues in Congress. Discussions about legislative efforts such as comprehensive budget bills frequently involve both parties seeking changes or reversals after elections depending on shifts in majority control.
