Cost of college went up for non-resident students at Dodge City Community College

In-state tuition and fees were unchanged for 2018-19 at Dodge City Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Kansas residents paid $3,270 to attend the two-year public institution in both the 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years.

Non-residents paid 11 percent more than residents this year, or $3,630. Their price tag grew 3.4 percent from $3,510 in 2017-18.

About 65 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Kansas residents. And about 31 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 85 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 291 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.5 million and 97 students took out student loans totaling more than $377,723.

Including all undergraduates (1,548), 964 students used grants or scholarships totaling $4 million, and 248 students took out $1 million in federal student loans.
