The show of support by Seward County Community College and its student body was in full force this past weekend.
It was Liberal High School Homecoming on Friday and the Liberal Chamber of Commerce annual Duck Race Festival on Saturday and Seward County Community College was there for both.
Two SCCC cosmetology classes, the SCCC spirit squad plus Louie and the Saints basketball team as well as staff and faculty marched and rode down Kansas Avenue in the Liberal High School Homecoming parade.
The SCCC family handed out candy and T-shirts to the crowd as well as pumping it up with enthusiastic cheers. Louie also got into the act by giving high-fives and hugs while taking part in pictures with kids on the parade route.
SCCC was at it again on Saturday at the annual Duck Race Festival. This time the Lady Saints volleyball, basketball and softball teams came to help and participate in the activities. The spirit squad and men’s basketball participated in a second day of activities while faculty and staff assisted with the chili cook-off.
The Saints basketball team was particularly busy on Saturday morning as it helped a community member move furniture before coming out to the Duck Race Festival.
SCCC will continue to show support for its community and participation in upcoming events.
