Men's Basketball Wins 10th Straight Beating Butler in Top 25 Battle

Behind a strong second half the Dodge City men's basketball team remained unbeaten in KJCCC action after taking down #24 Butler on the road 84-70 in the final game away from home before the new year. 

The Conqs made it 10-straight wins and improved to 10-1 on the season and 6-0 in KJCCC action and stretch the series win streak against the Grizzlies to four-straight games. 

After being tied up 4-4 early the Conqs would score the next six points and race out to a 10-4 advantage that lead would never falter as it just blossomed over the course of the contest. Butler made a push with 5:50 remaining in the first half behind a 7-0 run to tie the game at 27-27 but the Conqs answered and quickly went back up carrying a 37-34 lead into halftime. In the second half the Conqs put thing a bit more firmly in their grasps as they outscored Butler 11-3 over the first five minutes of the second half and 18-5 over nearly the first eight minutes of the second half on the way to dropping 47 points in the second half and grabbing the 84-70 win. 

The Conqs shot 50% from floor for the contest while holding Butler to just 38.7% shooting and Conqs took advantage of the free throw line going 19-25 from the charity stripe. Conqs also dominated the boards as they out rebounded the Grizzlies 43-28. 

Jason Edwards dropped 29 points on 7-12 shooting and went 14-18 from the free throw line adding seven rebounds. Avnoor Bhullar notched a career-high 17 points on 6-10 shooting including 4-7 from three-point range and grabbed six rebounds. Jacobi Sebock added 15 points and six rebounds, while DJ Jones finished with 12 points, six rebounds, and five assists. 

Conqs are back in action against Hutchinson at home on Saturday, December 10th at 3:00 pm and then will host Cloud County on Monday, December 12th 7:30 pm.
