Men's Basketball Checks in at #9 in Latest NJCAA DI Rankings | Dodge City Community College

Dodge City men's basketball team has had a strong season and sits at 10-2 on the season and 6-1 in the KJCCC after a 1-1 week last week. 

This week the Conqs are #9 in the latest NJCAA Division I rankings slipping one spot after a week in which the Conqs beat a ranked Butler team on the road but fell to Hutchinson by one point at home. The Conqs have only two losses on the season both by just one point each with shots by the opponents to win late. 

Joining the Conqs in the NJCAA rankings this week is two other KJCCC teams as Coffeyville moves up one spot to #10 and Cloud County jumps into the rankings for the first time this year at #21. Garden City and Barton are both receiving votes. 

On the season the Conqs offense is putting up 86.2 points per game on 46.4% shooting, making an average of 31.3 shots per game. Conqs are getting to the free throw line frequently averaging 18.1 free throws made per game which is 11th in the nation and attempting 26.9 free throws per game which ranks eighth. Defensively the Conqs are holding teams to 77.9 points per game on 40.7% shooting and 31.5% from three-point range. 

Five double-figure scorers lead the charge for the Conqs with Jason Edwards leading the team in scoring at 21 points per game on 48.5% shooting and adding 3.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. Jacobi Sebock is averaging 11.8 points per game on 48.8% shooting and grabbing 6.9 rebounds per game, while DJ Jones averages 11.4 points per game on 43.9% shooting with 3.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.5 steals per game. Chris Robinson is chipping in 11.2 points per game on 48.1% shooting while adding three rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. Cam Malray is also contributing double figures at 10.3 points per game on 44.3% shooting along with 5.3 rebounds per game.

The Conqs look to head into holiday break in first place in the KJCCC with a win over #21 Cloud County on Monday, December 12th as they host the Thunderbirds at 7:30 pm.
