Coming off the holiday break the Dodge City men's basketball team took the court on New Year's Eve for a Top 10 NJCAA Division I matchup as the #9 Conquistadors hosted #5 Indian Hills in a rematch of the season opener.

The contest would prove to be a tight one just like the first go around and despite holding a lead a big portion of the contest the Conqs found themselves on the wrong side of the scoreboard at the buzzer falling 87-81 at home.

The loss to the Warriors of Indian Hills moves the Conqs to 11-3 on the season with three losses by a combined eight points.

Game started off slow for both teams and was a see-saw affair back-and-forth with each team establishing a six-point lead over the first 10 minutes of the contest. With 3:30 remaining in the first half the Conqs grew the lead to six-points with a pair of quick buckets following the final media timeout of the first half and carried the 40-31 lead into halftime. In the second half the Conqs would maintain the lead despite the efforts of the Warriors for quite a while until Indian Hills continued to rain in three-pointers and with 8:18 left in the game took their first lead of the second half at 65-62. The game remained tight the rest of the way with Indian Hills securing the win late to claim the 87-81 win.

In the loss the Conqs shot 40.6% from the floor while Indian Hills shot 43.9% overall and hit 13 three-pointers with 10 coming in the second half. The Warriors also outrebounded the Conqs 41-31 in the contest.

Jason Edwards dropped 28 points to lead the Conqs as he went 6-11 from three-point range, while Jacobi Sebock tallied a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Cam Malray chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds, and Chris Robinson added 10 points and four assists.

The Conqs now turn their attention back to Jayhawk Conference action as they will travel to Independence on Wednesday, January 4th to take on the Independence Pirates at 7:30 pm.
