Women's Basketball Breaks Record for Single Season Wins With Road Victory at Pratt

Dodge City women's basketball continues to rewrite history as they continue to break record and pile up accomplishments the latest being most wins in a single season, accomplishing that feat behind a 77-53 road win over Pratt. 
 
The Conquistadors with the win moved to 27-2 on the season and 22-1 in KJCCC action. The 27th win marks the most in a single season in school history while also being the 20th straight win this season. 
 
The Conqs opened the game strong working to a 14-2 advantage over the first seven minutes of the contest, but that lead was closed to just two points by the end of the first quarter as the Conqs led just 17-15 after the first 10 minutes. Pratt continued to hang tough throughout the first quarter, but the Conqs managed to extend the lead to go into halftime leading 38-28. Over the first six minutes of the second half the Conqs outscored Pratt 15-4 to take firm control of the contest posting a 21-11 third quarter to lead by 20 after three quarters. The Conqs put the finishing touches on the game in the fourth and secured the 77-53 win. 
 
Conqs shot 44.4% from the field in the win while holding Pratt to just 29.8% shooting including 4-24 from three-point range, while controlling the boards finishing +18 in rebounding on the night. 
 
Bree Stephens recorded her third double-double of the season scoring 18 points on 7-14 shooting while grabbing 10 rebounds. Leah Mafua chipped in 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Paris Santacaterina tallied 10 points on 4-6 shooting. Georgia Gray, Jada Burton, and Jenna Rose Mafua all finished with nine points each. Burton also recorded six assists giving her 279 in her career as a Conq breaking the school record. 
 
The Conqs will look to close out the regular season strong when they host #17 Barton on Wednesday, March 1st at 5:30 pm.
