Dr. Roger Marshall, a U.S. Senator from Kansas, has publicly criticized Dr. Erika McEntarfer for allegedly providing inaccurate employment statistics and commented on recent changes at the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). In a series of posts published between August 1 and August 2, 2025, Marshall also addressed concerns about America’s pharmaceutical supply chain.

On August 1, Marshall stated: "I have been raising concerns for the past year about inaccurate job numbers put out by Dr. Erika McEntarfer. Her cooked-up numbers have misled the American people for too long. Glad President @realDonaldTrump is going to clean this up."

Later that day, he added: "America must reclaim its pharmaceutical production and put an end to our reliance on China’s knockoff drugs and cheap standards."

The following day, on August 2, Marshall responded to media coverage surrounding recent events at the BLS: "Legacy media’s wrong on why the BLS chief was fired. It’s not ‘bad numbers’—it’s incompetence. She inflated job numbers by 800K pre-election, then missed by 250K last two months. How can the Fed make sound decisions with such flawed data? Trump was right to act."

Dr. Erika McEntarfer served as Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics until her dismissal in early August 2025 following scrutiny over reported discrepancies in federal jobs data prior to and after national elections.

Concerns about U.S. reliance on foreign pharmaceutical manufacturing have been raised periodically in Congress amid broader debates over drug quality standards and economic security.

Senator Roger Marshall has consistently advocated for greater transparency in federal labor statistics reporting and supported efforts aimed at bolstering domestic pharmaceutical production.
