Dr. Roger Marshall expresses condolences after Charlie Kirk shooting in Utah

Dr. Roger Marshall, U.S. Senator from Kansas, posted a series of messages on September 10, 2025, expressing condolences and prayers following the shooting of Charlie Kirk during an event in Utah.

In his first post at 18:52 UTC, Dr. Marshall wrote, "Laina and I are heartbroken to learn that @CharlieKirk11 was shot while holding an event in Utah. We are praying for him, his family, and everyone at the event."

Later that evening at 21:20 UTC, he shared a Bible verse: "Psalms 34:18: 'The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.'"

At the same time, Dr. Marshall posted another message reflecting on Kirk's life and legacy: "We are heartbroken by the news of this tragic loss. Charlie was an incredible man whose faith guided him. He led a movement of young conservatives in our country, and his legacy will live on. Laina and I are devastated and our hearts and prayers are with his wife, Erika, and"

Dr. Roger Marshall has served as Kansas' junior senator since 2021 after previously representing Kansas’ First Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Charlie Kirk was known as a conservative activist who founded Turning Point USA, an organization focused on engaging young people in conservative politics.
